More information
In 2010, the first stages of work began on a $120 million upgrade in the Wynyard Quarter, among them the construction of a new-look, 'pedestrian-oriented boulevard' Jellicoe Street, a dining area called North Wharf, a bridge to the Viaduct Harbour via Wynyard Crossing. Additionally, trams have returned to Auckland streets! Jump on the beautifully restored 1920s heritage trams and take a step back in time.

The opening day will commence with a dawn ceremony attended by Mayor Len Brown and Prime Minister John Key. The day will include free entertainment, music, public art displays, boat rides, heritage tours, workshops and outdoor movies.
