Went to Western Springs Stadium last night for the Foo Fighters and Tenacious D concert. Of course the music was fantastic. The stadium itself is great. Getting in was a breeze, no real line to speak of and the security was reasonable. It was raining on and off so not that pleasant, portaloos split into male an female groups, good idea, the bar was well used but the line only took 10 mins, nice. General food was available, chips, hotdogs etc coffee, but $5 for water, not cool. They had a blackout around the fence on the edge of the concourse so we had to stand/sit further up to see over it, I guess for fire and safety you can't have a few thousand pushed up against the fence. Lots of police and security around but no real trouble I could see, lots of strange smelling smoke though. The ground up the hill was very slippery, maybe they could carve out some rows where appropriate to help as I had to prop my feet against a tree to stop slipping down even when sitting and I saw several girls in flat shoes go for a quick ride downhill.

Still overall western springs stadium was great, packed to capacity and handled the job fine. If it was sunny, remember to take sunblock. Getting out was easy and they had blocked off the road to help load the buses, certainly family friendly enough.
