Got out last night and caught Emma G at Windsor, nice voice, plus nice place, friendly staff and good on these venues for supporting local live music.
Called in to the Windsor Castle last night and played at the open mic night. Nice place, friendly crowd, great bar staff, as I was setting up my guitar my drink was cleaned up and when I explained they promptly gave me another. Cheers Guys, I will be back as well as make this a regular stop on other nights of the week.
It's a cool building and the garden area is something special in this part of town. I found the patrons friendly and the staff friendlier.
As a Parnell resident I am thrilled to see The Windsor reopened as a Pub and Live Music Venue. The food is Castro Pub style,... good food at excellent prices. Have eaten there and really enjoyed the meals.
The tasting platter is a wonderful starter, the salads are meal sized and good value. Fish and Chips were excellent, they have real chips, not French fries. People I dined with enjoyed their pizza. The Moroccan Chicken was a hit. All washed down with a great selection of wine.
On the latter days of the week, there is Live Music in the Juice Bar. Great fun. A new watering hole.
Just what Parnell needs
Great atmosphere, garden bar set for long afternoons, and so far really good live music
I'll be back, again and again
I popped into the The Windsor Castle to have lunch recently and what a treat - they definitely take the term gastro pub pretty seriously. There was lots on offer including a great selection of pizzas, and fish and chips - I saw some of these coming out of the kitchen at a fast rate and looked delicious; very tempting but I opted for a lighter option. To start I had the salt and pepper squid which is some of the best I've had in these parts - up there with some of the best I've had in many a good Sydney restaurant. To follow I had a tuna nicoise salad. The tuna was cooked to perfection, nice and rare and was topped with a delicious aioli. Lots of greens, crunchy green beans and not over dressed. A cold reasonably priced Chardonnay made the meal perfect.
Overall a very pleasurable experience. The Windsor feels like it's been there forever with the new refurbishment being just the right amount of polish but not taking away from it being a pub. What a great asset to Parnell, I will be back.
