Shadows is by far the best part about coming to uni! There's always something going on and the staff are chilled out and fun. Shads is the best thing on campus.

Shadows is always quiet. Though there may be crowds, they tend not to mingle too much and there's a definite feeling of exclusiveness in the air. The drinks are good, the food is great and the pup quiz and karaoke nights are personal favourites but the place has never felt as friendly as a student bar should.

Not bad, its been pretty quiet the few times ive headed in there. Not as flash as the ferg at Albany, and doesn't embrace the nudity like Gardie's in Dunedin, but its not bad. the people are always happy and the beer is always cold. Ive never seen trouble there which is quality when there are so many young people involved.

Shadows was a key part of my life while I completed my University degree at Auckland. Being originally from Dunedin it was a great place to meet people have a drink and enjoy the atmosphere. Always had great bands playing as well!
Shadows is what a student bar should be relaxed, enjoyable and full of like minded people!
Thanks Shadows for so many great memories!

Shadows Bar, the bar were everyone knows your name. Friendly bouncers (just don't get on their bad side); cheap beer (Student Card discounts); good atmosphere (as long as drunk engineers don't take over the Juke Box); pub quiz Tuesdays; kareoke Wednesdays; live bands; sleazy bFM sales reps; $3 cheese burgers; pool tables; outdoor balcony; there's even an xbox if you're that way inclined.

I've always had a good time at Shads; it was the first bar I went to when I turned 18 (even lined up outside for half an hour before it opened at 12.30pm) and they gave me a free jug of beer. From then on, it was my home away from home while I was at University. It's where I met my first boyfriend, made new friends, celebrated birthdays, graduations, orientation weeks, end of exams etc. I can't imagine what Uni would have been like without Shads. Highly recommended.
