2012 marks the 179th celebration of the world's most famous celebration of beer, Munich's Oktoberfest. Running between the 22nd September and 7th October, that's over two weeks of drinking and dining German style.

If you're reading this now, chances are you won't be in row 17B on Air Luthansa winging your way to Munich but never fear, there's plenty of beer fest celebrations going on in our own backyard. Here's a breakdown of some of the key beerfest events in Auckland this year. Prost!
