When the NME awarded New Order the ‘Godlike Genius’ Award in 2005 – they encapsulated in those two words the
achievements of a band, who for 30+ years have created one of the finest songbooks and legacies in the entire history
of rock and roll. Not to mention some of the best stories!
JUNICA Wellington based 4 piece Junica have been chosen by New Order as their main support.
With no certainty the band would ever actually play again after ceasing all touring in 2005 it is with considerable
pleasure that six years later Solid Entertainment announce New Order will play at Auckland’s Vector Arena on

It’s a must-see show for any fan of music.
Taking everyone by surprise just two months ago New Order announced their reformation to play benefit gigs in
Brussels and Paris for their good friend Michael Shamberg. With Peter Hook having officially left the band in 2007 New
Order’s line up now again includes the original fouth member Gillian Gilbert. Instant sell-outs, these European dates
were rapturously received by all the fans, friends, and media who saw New Order deliver amazing live performances.
Reviewing the Paris show, Luke Bainbridge for The Observer wrote, “On stage, they are greeted like returning heroes,
and a rejuvenated New Order delight their fans with a rare greatest hits set. Every fan has their own dream
set-list, but they’d be hard pushed to beat tonight’s selection.”
Following the huge success of these shows in Brussels and Paris, New Order announced a one-off London show and
three dates in South America in December. Vector Arena, Auckland is next up on February 27

New Order formed in 1980 from the remains of the seminal Joy Division following the death of singer Ian Curtis. Few
musicians manage to change the landscape of music once, but three of the musicians in this band have done it twice.
Joy Division’s unearthly post-punk was as original as the Velvet Underground’s palette twenty years earlier and New
Order combined electronics and rock guitars in a way that had never been done.
Blue Monday is the best-selling 12” single of all time, and while its hard to highlight particular songs from such a wealth
of riches Bizarre Love Triangle, True Faith, Temptation, Ceremony, Perfect Kiss, Regret, Crystal and Love Will Tear Us
Apart all featured in New Order’s Paris setlist.
Two films from recent years Twenty Four Hour Party People (the story of factory records) and Control (the story of Ian
Curtis and Joy Division) reached a massive world-wide audience. With the original members of New Order as key
players in these legendary tales the films were inspirational pieces of work, and the circle keeps turning.
NEW ORDER have inspired several generations of bands and several generations of fans.
They are playing again on February 27

at Vector Arena in Auckland.
Be there.
NEW ORDER are: Stephen Morris (drums), Bernard Sumner (vocals, guitar), Gillian Gilbert (keyboard, guitar),
Phil Cunningham (guitar, keyboards), Tom Chapman (bass
