Lost In Yonkers at the Dolphin Theatre is probably one of the best plays I have ever seen. Filled with drama, heartache and comedy it was a delight to watch and certainly a night to remember. The cast are top notch and give stunning performances way above and beyond what you would expect from so called "Amatuer Theatre". Saunders Mitchell commands the stage as Eddie, the angst ridden Pop who has to leave his two sons with his his hard as steel mother so that he can take a job away from his family in order to pay debts he owes to a "Loanshark" to cover hospital bills that he has accumulated following his wife's illness and ultimate death from cancer. His performance is heart wrenching and had more than a few of us in the audience reaching for our tissues. Definitley a star in the making. Other stand out performances are from Angela Franklyn as the "Not quite right in the head" Aunt Bella who fills her character with warnth and emotion that really pulls at the heartstrings and makes you laugh at the same time. Lyn Webster plays a fierce Grandma and is riveting to watch. Another highlight are the two boys Jay & Artie, who handle their roles well and deliver more than a few laughs throughout the show. All in all this is an excellent show performed by an excellent cast of actors who wouldn't be out of place starring on Broadway. Definitley one not to be missed.
