How did the early settlers in New Zealand cope with Christmas – and how did they adapt the annual celebration and make it their own? These questions and more will be answered in A Partridge in a Pear Tree – a rollicking night of Christmas entertainment at Alberton presented by George Henare and Cathie Harrop ,and featuring musicians Paul Harrop on piano, Dave Khan on fiddle and mandolin, and Jennie Khan on cello. “The show will present an evening of music and words looking back on Christmas celebrations of the early settlers and how they adapted the traditional Christmas foods of their homelands – often with hilarious results,” says the Manager of Alberton, Rendell McIntosh. “The show has become an eagerly anticipated Christmas fixture for many people, and we look forward to hosting it again at Alberton” The audience will be greeted with a welcoming drink before the concert, and a special Christmas supper on the veranda with the costumed performers will follow
