We popped in midweek after the movies for a small meal a couple of weeks ago and were very pleased with our choice. Really relaxed atmosphere, cosy with the fire going and the staff were friendly and professional. We shared the tasting platter, beer and wine, all of which were totally delicious. Definitely going back - may look at for a private function next year, too.

Went to York Street Mechanics for a surprise birthday dinner for my husband. The staff could not have been more friendly, helpful and accommodating. We had the private room, which was perfect for this event. They were happy for us to bring in our own cake, which they brought out with candles and then plated up at no cost. The food was fabulous and service attentive but not over done. A successful night and we will definitely be back.

Went to York Street Mechanics on Sat pm, with another couple.
Like the cool brickwork, whitewashed rough sawn timber, fireplace and, of course, the combined bike workshop, bar/cafe thing. The back room would be cool for a small group for a meal. Unisex toilets were clean and styly.
Food was good, quality over quantity which is how it should be here, but no-one left hungry. Took a long time to arrive but we weren't in a hurry, would be a problem if time was limited.
Service was efficient but quite impersonal which is o.k. we got enough people on our Christmas card list.
Yup, we liked York Street Mechanics for a relaxed afternoon meal in an interesting bar, also pleased it wasn't full of kids (usually=noise).
We'll be back

Visited York Street Mechanics with my girlfriend for a drink and meal. I was more than wowed. Magnificent service, food, and setting (the music was superb and the motorcycles were really cool). I really cannot recommend highly enough and will definitely be back!

We went there for lunch on a Saturday at 12.15 only a another 2 -3 customers there at this time but already they had sold out of 1 menu item and we got the last of another [ only about 4 items on the menu for mains.]. Presentation was good, small servings and no options of bread or sides. Overpriced for the size.
Salt was in a dish and with no spoon so expected to use fingers to get "pinch" and obviously went between more than one tables, we thought that's that's a bit yucky.

Long wait from ordering dessert to it arriving. Interesting decor- enjoyed looking at the motor bikes. Men's and Ladies toilets are combined in one room.

Overall rating of York Street Mechanics was "average". I don't think I would return
