My 3rd trip to the Wooden Board Kitchen and Mondays are the best because they do a deal – 2 courses for just $25 and bonus they are BYO. Great for a Monday when you are not a fan of that day of the week so don’t feel like cooking.

The only thing I will fault is that they are always busy on deal nights and only have one waiter. I also think their cleanliness leaves little to be desired with the bathrooms needing hand soap and paper towels on my visit there as early as 5.30pm. And the floor could have done with a good sweep. Something you would think would be one of their set up duties before opening.

Besides the lack of service and cleanliness the food is fantastic and great value for money even when not on a deal night. The chicken I had was cooked perfectly and the mash silky smooth. The sticky date pudding was sooooo good I could have done with a bigger piece. My friends fish burger which was not on the menu but as they did burgers and she doesn’t eat meat they were all too happy to oblige. And her fried bananas she said was yummy.

We’re looking forward to going back with our wine under our arm for another Monday night meal out.

I recently bought a voucher for Wooden Board Kitchen , the voucher included a shared entrée, two mains, two desserts and a glass of wine. We started with the Sea Creatures which was crumbed fish, mussels, prawns and calamari with a dipping sauce. The seafood was fresh and the batter crispy and not too greasy. For mains we chose the Slow braised pork & fennel w/ honey roasted kumara, savoy, granny smith & apple cider and the Roasted lamb shoulder w/ spiced pumpkin puree, seasonal greens, croquettes & mint sauce. The pork was lovely and tender and accompanied perfectly with the fennel and apple but the lamb was the stand out dish of the two, perfectly cooked lamb with delicious pumpkin puree and crunchy croquettes. We were both pretty full when dessert came, Warm chocolate lava w/ pouring cream and Spiced apple crumble w/ vanilla ice cream but we almost managed to finish them. The warm chocolate lava (aka chocolate fondant) was amazing but very rich. Our waitress for the evening was lovely and very helpful and the serving of the meals was well timed so we didn’t have to wait too long nor feel rushed. I so impressed with WBK that I purchased another voucher. I will definitely be back.

If you want an easy dinner come to the Wooden Board Kitchen. Whilst the acoustics are not great and they could have done with an extra waiter when they have 2 big groups booked at once the food is great. Most served on a wooden board hence the name of the restaurant. The stingy plates weren’t so stingy and are like Tapas. Having 3 is plenty or have one and then a main. Good rustic food!I had the seafood basket which was nearly cold but not greasy and came with nice sauces on the side. The chicken tenders were succulent and the highlight for most was the Pulled Braised beef with Asian slaw which I really enjoyed. The Roast Lamb and braised Pork my friends got looked delicious and generous. With a glass of wine I only spent $38 so very reasonably priced. I’d go again.
