Vue Restaurant, located on the top floor of Mercure Auckland, offers panoramic views of the spectacular Waitemata Harbour combined with a relaxed ambience and friendly service. The table I chose was with the amazing views of the water and in true Auckland style with yachts sailing by and at the end of a beautiful sunny day. 11 of my friends and I spent the first 5 minutes taking photos it was that panoramic. On the other side were views of Queen Street and the Sky City which was great since the bar was on that side so a good place to start or finish.

The waitress that looked after us was both friendly and patient with our group and the food about as equivalent to me as my previous visit to Botswana Butchery.

For starters one of my friends had the trio of soups – green pea, mushroom and then Thai pumpkin. Lovely idea. For my starter I had Pork belly (which is my favourite) with mash and lovely sticky jus and even better some succulent scallops.

For my main I had the eye fillet steak with potato gratin, brocollini, marsala prawns and another lovely jus. The steak was slightly over 'medium rare' which I like but the prawns absolutely tasty.

I did'nt have dessert as I was too full but friends tried the chocolate wontons and the Petit Fours and neither raved about the desserts.

I would visit again as for me it was an enjoyable evening and everyone raved about the views so that alone made it a place to recommend and revisit. I think its a shame its not advertised better.

Probably the best views in Auckland! Visited Vue Restaurant last week (hadn't heard about it until I came across it in one of the forums) but oh so glad that I did!
I took some out of towners and thought it would be a good place to show off the city (and didn't fancy Orbit).
Nice fit out and good service. All three of us enjoyed the food too which is the main thing. Be back to Vue again soon
