The Tasting Shed Q&A
The Tasting Shed Q&A
Jo and Ganesh Raj are the talented folks behind Kumeu's increasingly popular restaurant The Tasting Shed. Situated among beautiful gardens there are ample dining spaces both inside and out, and the menu is designed to share, to optimise the social aspect of dining.
Besides your own fabulous place, what are some of your favourite restaurants or bars in Auckland?

Jo and Ganesh

We love heading to Tanuki's Cave on Queen Street with our seven year old daughter and ordering a whole pile of different dishes to try. Or yum cha at Grand Harbour . For a special treat its always either Clooney or Ponsonby Road Bistro .
Do you have a favourite outside of Auckland?

Jo and Ganesh

We don't get much chance to travel outside Auckland these days! But we were in Queenstown for our 10th wedding anniversary recently and had a beautiful lunch at Amisfield .
What 'easy meal' would you cook at home after a long day?

Jo and Ganesh

I have a fail-safe spaghetti bolognaise dish that I have been making for over 20 years. If Ganesh is cooking then its his famous chicken curry. Total comfort food.
If you had to do take-out, where would your first stop be?

Jo and Ganesh

Thai. Closely followed by Indian. Thankfully we have good options for both in Kumeu.

What’s your favourite part of running your restaurant?

Jo and Ganesh

Talking to the customer and hearing about how much they love it here. And believe it or not, we get lots of hugs from happy customers when they leave, which is lovely.
Worst part of running your restaurant?

Jo and Ganesh

Not having a family dinner every night with our daughter. We manage two nights a week when we're both home, and then one other night a week each when we take turns being with her. Its still the toughest part. The restaurant side is easy compared to that.
