Always had a nice dinner here. When they didn't have the dessert we wanted they gave us 2 vouchers for a free dessert next time. Family friendly if you go for an early dinner (5pm), it can get a bit rowdy later at night.
always a good time at the Hangar - easily one of the best bars out west in my opinion. Foods pretty decent too - dined here last week and enjoyed the ostrich fillet with chunky fries. Hadn't had ostrich before but really quite liked it. $35 for that and a bottle of monteiths - can't beat that!
Love the Hangar's $30 pizza special on a Tuesday. Cheap deal for awesome pizzas. The side of creamed spinach is really great as well.
My husband and I went to the Hangar last Thursday for dinner. He ordered a hot rock meat thing that all in all was OK – how hard is it to cook your own meal really!I however ordered the Pork Belly – HUGE mistake! When it arrived at our table it had this gluggy fatty mass on top of a small slice of pork.I sent it back to the kitchen only for it to be returned and to be told that that’s how the chef cooks it and if I don’t like it ‘too bad’!!!!I will NEVER eat at this place again – we use to love coming to the Hangar but it just seems that the staff they employ are getting worse and worse. The manager I complained to and our waitress were of much higher quality and were very apologetic. I just hope they get rid of that hideous person they call a Chef!!!
Gr8 Place! Recommend to all, wether u r goin 4 a meal or a drink. A+
Its a great place to eat and go out with friends. Bar is comfortable and ideal for a group party
Was there not long ago for a 21st birthday. Had a good time "apart" from the barman's attitude which really sucked. I bought 2 JD's and 3 tequila shots with lime & salt etc. "$35 round"... I got some lemon OK, but when I asked for some salt the chump says to me "you don't need any salt" "huh, sorry???" "well, you will have to go down to the restaurant to get it ya self" "huh what???" so I'm not happy and anyway he gets the bouncer and I'm kicked out! But I finally grab the manager and she "un"-kicks me out and she ends up apologizing more or so... But, still all a bit of a shame really. And I wasn't the only one to complain!
Never seen so many black jeans in my life, definately a different scene to what im used to but not a bad night out. I felt lucky I hadnt had a shave in a few days and had some growth on the face happening. My otherwise babyface may have got me into strife with some of the other patrons sipping on 'Waitakere Daiquiris' - (BOURBON). I got a few funny looks when I requested "U-G-L-Y you aint got no alibi you ugly hey hey you ugly!" from the DJ but managed to pull back some Kudos with some quick thinking on my feet and managed to get them to play "Thunderstruck". In all seriousness, the overall result was a good night out and ill absolutely have no complaints if the night steers towards the hangar in the future.
It's not often that I go out west on the weekend but ended up going to The Hangar last weekend. Never been before, and was really suprised at how popular this place is. Good vibe all round - actually well worth the trip!
Have just returned from lunch at the Hangar, having discovered its existence on-line. What a refreshing change from the usual Waitakere Trust venues. Excellent food. Warm and friendly service. A good wine list. And not a gaming machine in sight!
