Went for a return visit to The Florentine Tearoom yesterday and I was a bit disappointed. The food was still yummy, but the service was not as friendly and it was very slow. Coffee was OK but not as good as it used to be. I think it has changed owners, and just doesn't seem to have the same vibe. There are also none of the gorgeous homewares for sale outside like there used to be. As I said, the food was still good, but the place just didn't seem the same.

The Florentine Tearoom is quite a special little place in Epsom. Tucked around the corner of Ranfurly Rd, it is a great spot for a coffee or tea with a girlfriend (or your Mum, Aunty etc!). They do high teas to share, or can can just choose from the delicious array of counter food which is all both really tasty and really gorgeous looking. I've tried the chicken and avocado sandwich which I rate very highly, and the Vietnamese spring rolls which are a light, fresh alternative. The ginger crunch and the custard squares were just right, as was the coffee. The friendly staff and cute displays of homewares etc give the place a lovely feeling.

I was in the area and I had read the article in the herald about this little must-try place. It was everything I had expected and more, as soon as you walk in there is an atmosphere that is exciting. There was a quaint beauty to the place and the food was remarkable, (especially the chicken and avocado sandwiches!) as was the coffee. The service was friendly and the order was prompt. I have told all my friends about this little gem and I have returned a number of times to receive the same lovely experience. I recommend to all!
