The Commons is truly an exquisite dining experience. From the doorman opening the door for us, to the maitre d’ that greeted us inside. It was tempting to stay downstairs in the upbeat, classy environment to try the tapas menu, but we opted to dine upstairs and feast on the chefs tantalizing menu offered by the maitre d’. Upstairs we thoroughly enjoyed an evening of fine dining experience. All the staff are gave world class service, they were friendly, well informed of the menu and extensive wine list, and made us feel completely pampered and looked after us for the evening. The atmosphere is warm, classy, creative and vibey with really great background music. The food is INCREDIBLE!! Colourful, fresh, creative that made my taste buds dance with joy. So many different flavours, textures and tastes! Looking forward to going back and trying out the tapas menu. I’m sure The Commons will be our new summer spot with the outside bar and lounge couches - bliss!!

three cheers (and five stars) for the commons - any place that serves up James Squire is off to a good start in my books. The settings it cool - that hurstmere corridor can get pretty cold but the courtyard area (and the heaters) does manage to keep the temperature decent.
Haven't eaten at the commons as yet but with Mexico opening soon, this might well be the destination to be once summer kicks in. Awesome guys - c u soon!

Loved the environment at the Commons and the multitude of different spaces. I am sure that many aspects of this restaurant are fabulous, including the Menu and Bar List.

A couple of suggestions though ..

1. Please keep the kitchen open a little later for desserts. They looked very delicious and yet when we tried to order at 9.40pm we were told the kitchen was closed for everything other than 'tapas'. Downstairs would be a great place to have dessert and coffee later in the evening.

2. Because there was no dessert we opted for Hot Chocolates and these were luke warm and a little watery (and no marshmellows :-( ... Not a great way to introduce this new establishment.

can't help but rave about the Commons. I came here this afternoon for a few beers with my work mates. Loving the enclosed courtyard drinking space - really relaxing and even on a cold-ish day, get those heaters rarked up and it's a winner. The commons also has the best beer range of seen from a new bar in a while. Little creatures, James Squire and pacifico - good on them for doing things a bit differently.Once Mexico opens this whole space is going to be buzzing. Get in Takapuna!!!

Cant wait for the Commons to open - Takapuna really needs a classy spot and I've been a regular at the Imperial Lane precinct so hoping that they bring the same deal to the North Shore as I'm local.

My husband and I hAve just had the most wonderful dinner there. Rate it 5/5 for excellent food and service. Everyone worked as a team and so friendly. At last a restaurant in Takapuna that serves quality food. flavours were excellent and atmosphere buzzing. Can't wait until summer. This is a cosy winter restaurant and a cool summer one- so clever in design.
