The ViewAuckland Review
Vibe
The tatty former location of the Rose & Crown has been transformed into a sleek 21st century gastropub and microbrewery with gleaming tanks of craft beer, modern furniture. and a sleek minimalist décor. Hands down The Brewery Britomart is Auckland’s classiest brewpub. Damn cool logo too…
Service
Relaxed and friendly with plenty of information on the guest taps and the upcoming range of up to seven beers currently being brewed on the premises.
What’s On Tap?
Up to seven different brews will be on offer including a Pilsner and IPA. Current offerings on the gust taps include hoppy goodies from Moa, Hallertau, Tuatara and the hard-to-find-in-Auckland Hawkes Bay Independent Brewery.
Feeling Peckish?
The Brewery’s well-priced pub food is also a definite cut above, ranging from the simple pleasures of Auckland’s best and chunkiest hand cut chips ($7.50) through to mussels steamed with chorizo, garlic and lager ($12.50), and salmon marinated in citrus and pilsner ($23). Many of the dishes have been specifically designed to match the beers on offer.
The Bottom Line
It’s an exciting time to be a Kiwi beer fan, and The Brewery Britomart is a classy addition to Auckland’s craft brewing scene.
A Reason To Return
When a brewery is talking about releasing regular seasonal brews, there’s definitely going to be multiple motivations for an encore visit.
