The Best Brunches
Brunch has become an embedded part of Auckland’s weekends, and there’s more choice than ever for that ‘late Sunday morning with friends’ special spot.
Cafe On Kohi
2 / 237 Tamaki Drive, Auckland
A seriously hard to beat spot on the main strip of Kohimarama, with one of the best views in town. A lovely menu with loads to offer, but we’re fans of the healthy spin on the big breakfast, the Big Healthy. Enjoy buffalo ricotta, mushrooms, avocado and salmon, with perfectly poached eggs. The service is amazing as well.

Petit Bocal
177 Sandringham Road, Auckland
It took us a while to get there, but we’re so glad that we visited Petit Bocal recently. A lovely interior, great service and an exciting menu all combine to make this a fabulous brunch spot (if, that is, you can get a table). Our choice - the bruschetta, with a mix of avocado, tomatoes and basil, two poached eggs and some of the tastiest bacon we’ve had in ages. They’re generous with their portions here too.

Catroux Cafe
129 Westend Road, Auckland, 1022
Light and bright in Westmere, with enormous bowls of fresh salads on offer in their extensive counter food, along with a diverse menu. Our picks are the slow roasted organic mince on toast (mixed with crispy chorizo) and the slightly pricier kumara and sage rosti, with prosciutto and baba ganoush. Every year, we order bags of their fabulous hot cross buns, which hands down are the best you can get.

Scullery
166 Karangahape Road, Auckland
A wonderful addition to K Rd, and instantly effortlessly a great please to brunch, if you’re after an oasis amongst the usual K Rd madness. Their menu is one that’s impossible to choose from, so we always fly to the Fried Wild Rice with feta and roasted almonds. One of the best brunch dishes around.

Jam Organic Cafe
33-45 Hurstmere Road, Auckland
A fantastic spot in Takapuna where, on a sunny day, you can sit out under the pohutukawa trees and enjoy fantastic organic fare. Go online, and you’ll see people raving about the Eggs Benedict but there’s so much more to enjoy here.
