My girlfriend got a Grabone vouchers which gives you 3 courses for $40 so we decided to make a ‘girls night out’ of it and get dressed up and go for a meal at Tapestry, the restaurant in the Pulman’s Hotel.

The restaurant was nearly silver service and the nicest of most hotels with a comfy seating area and bar next to the restaurant. The service was quick, friendly and professional.

For starters I chose the Tuna which unfortunately was killed with too much smokiness of the smoked eggplant. My friend’s salmon was much nicer.

For mains I had the Veal rack with creamy spinach and jus, cooked perfectly and very tasty. My friend had the line caught fish with spring vegetables, it was a beautiful dish.

For dessert I had the Kalingo chocolate cremeux with lemon curd and meringue. A perfectly balanced dish of sweet and tangy. My friend had the apple tart with maple and walnut ice-cream. Reminiscent of something you would get in a good French bakery but nice and buttery and flaky.

The bottle of ‘Marisco’ was delish and a Marlborough delight I want on my rack at home.

Not a place you would think to go to or in an area you would easily pass by but you so should get there even without a voucher as the full price was only $59 for the 3 courses. I would go back.
