Sri Puteri's in Panmure used to be a favourite until it changed hands a couple of years ago. Decided to give Sri Puteri's a go after hearing that things have improved after its current owner took over a year ago. Overall, I think Sri Puteri's food is pretty close to the mark with the real deal. I'd recommend trying their Nasi Lemak, although careful with this as their sambal (chilli paste) packs a good punch. The roti chanai is also worth having as it's not out of a packet but made at the premises. Although lacking a little in flavour, the pastry was crispy and flaky, not easy to achieve.I'm a big fan of Mamak Maggi Mee Goreng and am quite fussy about my maggi mee goreng. Sri Puteri's wasn't the best, but it was pretty good for what I've tried in NZ. Give the Malaysian style drinks a try too if you're after some beverage. Had the Teh Halia (Ginger Milk tea) and was happy with it. Service was okay and a bit slow at times. Our food didn't take too long to come though but we were there late and there wasn't a big crowd. Just be aware though, if you're seated in the basement, be prepared to have to walk upstairs to get service. The place itself is unassuming and nothing fancy. It does feel much cleaner now than it used to be. Based on my visit yesterday (Wednesday evening), I'd rate them 4/5 stars. My sister, though, reports having had a less than satisfying experience. Having visited at a busy time during a weekend, she reports slow service and bland food being served up. No doubt I'll be back again to give it a couple more go's before giving my final verdict on this place. Watch this space! :)Their website has photos of their menu items to help in your decision making. http://sriputeris.weebly.com/index.htmlFull menu available through the Malaysia Kitchen website:http://www.malaysiakitchen.co.nz/index.php?option=com_zoo&task=item&item_id=6&Itemid=171

Excellent dishes! I would recommend Sri Puteris to anyone looking for somewhere where the food is outstanding and the atmosphere warm and inviting and unpretentious.

I'll be back!
