We went. We tried. We loved it. The Fish Head Curry noodle dish was tasty and authentic, the Seafood Laksa had depth of flavour and just the right kick if heat. I recommend the Roti too.. Great for dipping into all the flavoursome soup. We will be back. Pricing was reasonable and great lunch. Be sure to beat the lunchtime crowd and go early.

delicious malaysian food at an affordable price. everything I have tried have been good. Sambal chicken, mummy chicken, and the laksa (in winter) are my personal favourites.

I love Selera. Tasty Malaysian food for a reasonable price and good sized portions. My go to meal is the chicken laksa. It is enormous and easily feeds two people if you get some roti on the side. The Laksa is delicious, it is lovely and creamy without being too heavy and has excellent flavour and heat (it might be a bit too spicy those who aren't use to spicy food). Their Beef Rendang and Mee Goreng are also very tasty. The roti was unbelievably good, light, flaky and delicious and only $2.50 apiece.

Perhaps the most delicious and authentic Malaysian restaurant we have found in Auckland and very affordable! The Laksa is particularly divine, though perhaps a little daunting at first due to it's generous size. Now that we have discovered Selera Malaysian Cafe, it's probably unlikely we will eat anywhere else if we find ourselves in Newmarket. The decor is not flash, so don't be expecting a fine dining environment. However it is clean and the service is fast. Most importantly, if it is the flavours you are after then you have come to the right place. We visited Selera Malaysian Cafe on a weeknight and the restaurant was bustling with diners, people waiting for tables and also people dashing in to collect takeaways, so while the turnover was fairly swift for us, you might need to be prepared to wait a little while or could try calling to reserve a table
