The food was awesome and so was the service, always smiling and asking if we were ok. The food is remarkable, it still makes my mouth water just thinking about our experience :)
My partner and I have been to Sal Rose about 10 times over the last couple of years, and loved it. Our last experience however was very disappointing. We went at about 8.30 on a saturday night, the restaurant wasn't very busy and we were greeted by a lathergic waitress. We had to ask what the specials were, ask for cracked pepper for our mains. The mains were average. Towards the end of our main course the restaurant had pretty much emptied out. They were wiping tables and stacking chairs around us. We couldn't get out of there quick enough. We felt like dessert and were offered it, but felt like we'd be keeping the staff from going home. It was disappointing, pricey for the food and experience we had and left us feeling like we never wanted to go back.
Excellent food, wine, great service with a smile from well paced staff; comfortable and homely.
Better food and bigger portions than many trendy places that charge twice as much.
Anyone who thinks this place ISNT value for money doesnt get out much at all or is a ponce!
Not trendy but a discreet and welcoming venue.
Having eaten from Paris to Boston and Sydney, I'd rather eat here. And it's urban location belies it's value.
Have been a regular at this restaurant for a while. It is very popular with all my family & friends. Is always first choice for a birthday dinner where we may have up to 16 people at a table & yet not a single person has a complaint about their meal. It is the only restaurant I have found that can keep every single person at a large table happy. (Normally there is at least one person that did not enjoy their dish) I personally recommend the eggplant parmigana
We have had takeaway pizzas a few times and one meal in at Sal Rose. It is a great restaurant. Lovely Italian food and great wine list. Highly recommend it to anyone for all occasions. Just wish it was open for lunch midweek!
We'd been there before and had fairly decent food for a somewhat hefty price, so took a punt and tried again for a romantic dinner for two. This time, although the place was virtually empty and well staffed, the food was decidedly bland and the marinara in particular sadly lacking in seafood or flavour. Made us wish we'd stayed home and made our own. Only bright note was we didn't have to wash the dishes that night.
Living locally my partner and I frequent Sal Rose a couple of times a month and have been doing so for the past couple of years. The food is good. Entrees are large and the bread specials are the best in town. Keep an eye out on the specials list for the seafood chowder as its a must have!
The services is friendly and efficient. We do like the new maitree' d!.
My only complaint is that although we frequent regularly the service staff at Sal Rose still don't recognise us as regulars!
I have lived on Alberton Ave, Mt Albert, my whole life. To have a local fine dining establishment in my close proximity is a delight. I have found Sal Rose to be of the standard of restaurants I frequent in areas that are well renowned for a high standard of dining (Ponsonby, Herne Bay etc).
I have been to Sal Rose with both family and friends and have found every occasion has always meet with everyone’s expectations.
