Saigonz is my local when I'm looking to satiate my cravings for Vietnamese food. I'd recommend Saigonz if you're looking for something tasty that won't burn a hole in your pocket. You get pretty decent portions for the price you pay ($8-12 for mains).

There are a few tables available where you can comfortably plonk yourself down for a meal.

My favourites from the menu are:

- the pho (beef noodle soup - $10 for standard beef) and

- lemongrass beef/pork/chicken on rice noodle / rice ($10). They actually marinate the meat with lemongrass. Some places serve up grilled meats with a lemongrass sauce on top. The former, I think, is tastier as the meat has soaked up the flavours of the lemongrass.

A few things that you might want to be aware of:
1) They have a loyalty card whereby if you buy 9 items >$9.50, then you get 10th item for free. A bonus if you patronise them often enough.

But, just as a warning, their terms of the loyalty card can be a bit inconsistent. On my last visit, I had to collect one more stamp to get my free meal. So, I expected that since I was getting 2 meals, I'd pay for 1 and get my 2nd meal for free. Only, I was told that I couldn't use it on the same visit.

Oddly enough, there's no mention about that on the fine print of the card. And, someone I know had been in the same situation as I, but had managed to get her free meal during the same visit.

2) When buying a lemongrass beef/pork/chicken on rice noodle / rice meal, you are actually meant to be given a big pottle of sauce. A few times, I have actually been given a small pottle that is meant for the spring rolls they sell. So, if taking away food, always check that they've supplied you with the right sized pottle of sauce :)

Overall, Saigonz serves up pretty decent food. It's just that their service can be a bit hit and miss. The food so far though, has been good enough for me to keep going back albeit the problems with service.
