Saffron Indian Restaurant is one of my regular haunts in Ponsonby. The food is consistently good and certainly good value. Not flash at all but the service at Saffron Indian Restaurant is always on the mark.
Ordered Butter Chicken and Rice Takeout...Got home to find the most pathetic amount of chicken in my order. Always frustrating after making the journey. I called up to make mention on my dismal dinner, spoke to the chef himself who said he put in 8 pieces of chicken, and yes this was accurate, however the pieces where literally the size of raisins. I have obviously had butter chicken dishes before takeout from other establishments around the city, and sure I never really expect a plentiful helping, but this was just truly PATHETIC!!!Rice was undercooked too.I guess I should have taken heed of vacant restaurant as a sign of awful cuisine.
This is one of our favourite restaurants when visiting Auckland. The lunch buffet during the weekend is cheap and delicious.
The staff are attentive and bring anything that has run out straight to your table once it is cooked.
The buffet includes South Indian favourites like vadai, dosai, idly, vegetarian curry and accompaniments and some sweets and comes with a cup of tea.
Great menu, great food! Set lunch menu is great... curry, naan and drink all for $10! Buffet is also available some days... all you can eat plus tea or coffee... cant go wrong :) Dinner menu is also of the same high standard
Saffron Indian Restaurant is the one of the best restaurants in Auckland I have visited in the past 2 years. They bring in the Indian culture from the name, color combination and food quality and taste.
Tired of the same old bacon and eggs on the weekend? A friend of ours invited a large table of friends here for her birthday brunch on a Saturday. It has a buffet style array of interesting looking, mildly spiced (except for the orange one), vegetarian dishes to sample (again and again if you wish)-- and all for only ten dollars.
Saffron is baby/child friendly and also dad friendly - a couple of cold Kingfishers to finish an enjoyable meal.
