My husband felt like to Thai for Fathers Day dinner so we headed to Royal Thai in Birkenhead. I had read in the paper that it was under new management, and they were offering a 15% discount. The place has had a bit of a facelift so that was nice, and you can bring BYO wine which is always a bonus! We ordered a selection of starters which were all tasty, particularly the spring rolls. They seemed to have a nicer filling than other places. Mains were all good including a delicious yellow curry and a yummy and very generous sizzling beef. All in all it was good Thai food in pleasant surroundings, but although the service was fine it could have been a little friendlier.
The Royal Thai is consistently reliable - it produces good food at reasonable prices. The entrees and seafood dishes are especially good. Service is pleasant and prompt. Parking is easy. An ideal local restaurant.
This is a long established restaurant - it is not cutting edge Thai food, but it provides excellent meals at reasonable prices. The menu is extensive, but the quality remains consistently high. The wine list is short and the markups reasonable. Service is pleasant and prompt.
We particularly enjoy the curry puffs and the sizzling garlic and onion prawns.
The key to the longevity of this restaurant is consistency - we have never had a poor meal in over 10 years of regular patronage.
