The ViewAuckland Review
When & Where: I dropped into the Gladstone Road Cafe (formerly Rosehip Cafe) for a quick brunch on a Tuesday morning.
Decor: Bordered with planted boxes, the street-side outdoor area fits well with the smart and clean lines of the interior where you'll find simple tables and a small sharp deli-counter.
Atmosphere: Bustling with posh Parnell types, this is a cafe to enjoy a stretched-out bite to eat whilst catching up with the ladies that lunch.
Menu: The menu offers what you would expect from a high class cafe (eggs benedict, big breakfast) and then a little more with a great selection of sides (crispy pancetta, kumara rosti etc)
Result: With the table service fast and efficient, the beautifully presented food arrived quickly and was perfect. I ordered the eggs benedict with avocado and crispy pancetta which was perfect. The eggs beautifully poached, the pancetta was spot on and, unlike most eateries, it was served on an English muffin.
Service: The service was fast, efficient and relaxed all at the same time - they first brought our food out with bacon instead of pancetta but this was swiftly corrected.
Score: We strongly recommend you come here. Overall we thought the Gladstone Road Cafe certainly offers one of the best cafe eating experiences in Auckland.
