A group of 5 of us visited revel for brunch on Sunday 2nd October. The staff were very friendly on arrival. Orders were placed at the front counter and we found a place to sit eventually as it was busy. The coffee arrived after a short wait and it was good, I had a long black and it was smooth and full of flavor and had a shot of hot water on the side.I ordered the BLT ( the description on the menu board was full of adjective and looked promising ).We waited and waited. And waited. And people around us waited. I saw a couple wait 20 minutes for a counter sandwich and a coffee. and then the food started to arrive, I say started. Five meals at one table should come out at roughly the same time. They didn't. That would be too logical ! We waited forty minutes for the first meal to come out and then ten minutes for each individual meal to arrive. Other tables were served time and time again before the last person at out table received their meal!!! I find this totally unacceptable. The first two people at our table to receive their grub had finished completely by the time I received my meal!. So, to my meal - the BLT arrived, i was famished, promised lots of crisp lettuce tomato and bacon, with lashings of aioli...I was very disappointed with what I received. Two small rashers of bacon in a tiny open sandwich with about a teaspoon of aioli, some rather limp mesculin and a meagre 3 slices of bland tomato on two tiny pieces of bread! for $16 dollars!!! To add insult to injury I viewed the table next to us receive a counter sandwich that was 8 dollars and far more substantial. IF YOU ARE GOING TO OFFER A $16 DOLLAR SANDWICH ON YOUR MENU IT BETTER BE IMPRESSIVE! I am never going back to revel for food again. It is upsetting to see the service and food at revel taking a turn for the worst. The owners mustn't care anymore. I felt ripped off and if it wasn't for the friendly barista who made my good coffee would have given this 0 stars.
My partner I visited Revel today ( 07.11.10) and had an awful experience.
I ordered the 'Beetroot and Lentil Salad', and he ordered a slice of vegan banana cake. What a disappointment. The cake was as hard as a rock, dry and stale, I can only imagine that it was baked a week ago.
My salad was worse. It actually tasted like dirt. My partner tasted my salad and was as equally unimpressed. I should add at this point that I am not a picky eater, so for me to leave a meal after one bite is rather impressive.
To top off our Revel experience, my smoothie was WARM. How on earth can a smoothie be warm? Yuk. The coffee was okay, but I felt as though I was going to vomit by this stage.
Needless to say, we left hastily with $20 less in our pockets.
I have been to Revel before for coffee and snacks, but never have I had such a rubbish experience.
Never again.
New Chef at Revel! Check out your old favorites or ask for something special with coffee to die for. K'Road people watchin gplace to be. Cheers JeFF
Loved it, not your average shinny stainless and glass place, Revel! has personality ... from the retro recycled cups and saucers to the old soft chairs. Coffee.. supreme's fair trade organic....yummmmm! Food great, nice menu lots of vegie vegan and meaty options which keeps us all happy again and again. Parking sucks so use the Mercury Lane car park. They bake delish cakes too.
