Rebo is one of the few remaining Skycity restaurants I was yet to visit so when the opportunity came along for myself and a few friends to visit I toOK the chance.
Its situated in a perfect spot where you would struggle to NOT make money, it is also a very obvious spot for tourist so on this basis they would be representing NZ in a culinary way.
The restaurant itself is a very nice setting you can see the hustle and bustle of the crowds and the atmosphere is always buzzing.
Unfortunately that's where the good news ends. The service was uninterested verging on bored and we waited a long time for the food. We also had to struggle to get a second round of drinks. Any business would hate to hear that.
Between the table we ordered 2 steaks, a chicken pizza, a margarita pizza, a bucket of prawns and a couple of sides. Now when the food arrived finally it was as expected, the steaks where a little tough and the prawns overcooked but overall everything was pretty good. I hate using the word good its quite a boring descriptive word but that's what I found the food to be. Just good.
I like a few of the Skycity outlets but I don't think I would rush back to Rebo it just didn't do it for me. Overall it was ok but sluggish service really let it down.
Rebo is a good option for lunch if you are in the SkyCity area. Had the club sandwich that came with beer battered fries - well priced at around the $15 mark.
Keen to try Rebo's burgers next time!
