I remember going to the Queens Ferry back in 1960's as an 18yr old. Went with a friend who was quite a bit older than myself, she said that it was a good place to meet blokes. She wasn't wrong, but they were sure not blokes that you would take home to your mother. The floor was awash with booze and fights that you would not believe. No police were called, the patrons just sorted it out themselves, then they just went back to their drinking. Amazing place, not the right place for an 18yr old but an experience that I have never forgotten. The only reason for this review is that I was having a conversation with a colleague and couldn't remember the name of the pub, Queens Ferry, he kept saying the Occidental and I said NO, it was a few doors away from the Occidental, and yes it was the QF. Nothing today like the old days.
The Queens Ferry Hotel is the greatest Pub in the Southern Hemisphere, used to be very "camp"!
