Bon Ga Ne Restaurant
(Korean)
Asian restaurants along Queen Street Auckland are plentiful, and it's not unusual even for Auckland locals to see them all as one and the same as they tend to blend into each other both in taste, offerings and - quite frankly - lack of authenticity. We intend to make it clear that Bon Ga Ne Restaurant deserves to be separated from the chaff of sub-par restaurants on Queen Street Auckland. The food is reasonably priced, service is always amicable and most importantly, food authentically Korean - a claim most native Koreans would be glad to back up for Bon Ga Ne Restaurant.

Kura Japanese Sake Bar
(Asian, Japanese)
You'd be hard-pressed to find a decent restaurant on Queen Street Auckland that does anythign even a little more posh than the regular casual dining diner. Defying the above convention is Kura Japanese Sake Bar and its sophisticated atmosphere. There is an open fire in winter and tables suited for intimate dining and for large groups. And with over 25 different sakes to chose from and a small well matched wine list to chose from and match with their authentic Okinawan Japanese food, Kura makes one of the top high-end Queen Street Auckland restaurants.

Le Garde-Manger
(Cafe, French)
Le Garde-Manger has got to be one of the quaintest restaurants on Queen Street Auckland. Gingham printed tablecloths, candlelight dinners, rustic wooden furnishings and mint green wall-washes. This Queen Street restaurant sticks out like a sore thumb amongst the many Asian restaurants along the upper end of Queen Street, but we couldn't me more thankful for the existence of this 'ugly duckling', because it's certainly blossomed into a beautiful swan.

No. 1 Queen Street Cafe
(Cafe)
If there is one word that doesn't quite shimmy up well with the Queen Street Auckland location, it's cafe. Restaurants on Queen Street are aplenty, but it's near impossible to find a single decent cafe along the Auckland strip. Save for No. 1 Queen Street Cafe, of course. This urban cafe has developed a characteristically varied personality of its own as well; many Auckland locals may shun No. 1 Queen Street Cafe for its modernistic setting that is counter-culture to the vintage and whimsical cafe movement in Auckland.

We think, though, that this Queen Street eatery deserves mention because while its exterior may be glassy and metallic, its food and service is anything but. Coffee is consistent, food is delectable and they often have interesting events happening around the area - what better spot to people watch than at the intersection of Queen Street and Quay Street?

Tanuki's Cave
(Japanese)
Tanuki's Cafe makes our list of recommended Queen Street Auckland Restaurants because in true rebellion style, Tanuki's Cave approaches the Auckland dining scene in a completely different flavour from Tanuki Japanese Restaurant. Its lively underground vibe simply is something you've got to experience for yourself - it'll lend to you an insight into the mellow liveliness of the Auckland drinking hole scene. Edgy, intimate and simply diverse.
