Stepping a little out of my comfort zone (aka Salmon Eggs Benedict) I ordered the 'asparagus, smoked potato and cheddar croquettes with romesco' which was well presented and a nice change from my breakfast norm. They had a number of other intriguing items on the menu also which I would like to go back and work my way through. Coffee was ok, not brilliant, but almost made up for by the range of reading material and my partner's banana and honey smoothie.
What started to be quite a nice cafe to eat breakfast at turns out pretty sour after a group of friends and I had to wait for almost an hour to to be served breakfast (the cafe was almost empty at that time!), and at the end of it, we were overcharged for our food! What was even more disappointing, the owner (or the person in charge) didnt even seem apologetic at all! Seriously rude of her!
Great little cafe in Britomart with exceptionally friendly staff and prompt service. With the morning sun gleaming in, the Quay Street Cafe is the place to sit, relax and read the paper...well recommended.
