We went to Q because they were part of the entertainment book and it was a Monday night and traditionally everywhere is closed!!! Q wasn't! And we left very happy by that fact.
This new restaurant is beautifully decorated in what one could describe as African colours very nice. We started with a cocktail each, made by the Maitre'd they were excellent.
The waiter we had was extremely attentive, a bit too much sometimes, WE CAN SEE YOU CHECKING THAT SAME NAPKIN! Its still there!!
As for the food I started with the polenta whilst my partner went for the pumpkin ravioli, the ravioli was as expected typical, good is a bad descriptive word but that’s all it was good. However my polenta with squid and Gorgonzola was sublime, all the flavours where excellently blended and the squid perfectly cooked.
For mains, my girlfriend had sides combined as the advertised vegetarian menu didn’t exist and I had the Hapuka, again the fish dish was excellent and her dishes where sides so cant expect too much. To sum it up The evening was 100% better than I expected, however it was a shame the vegetarian menu wasn’t available for my GF that we had heard about I kind of thought it would be over elaborate bad food but I was wrong and greatness was achieved here!! I am not over exaggerating when I say after 19 months in Auckland this is the best meal that I have had. I have eaten in the best in Auckland and this was better!!

First visit, exceptional in every way, absolutely top drawer. Second visit, very average - different wait staff, different chef (?), hopefully Q Restaurant & Bar has not lost its mojo so quickly.
