Non Solo Pizza
(Italian, Pizzeria)
Non Solo Pizza easily crowns as being the best pizza restaurant in Parnell, Auckland. They serve over a dozen different kinds of pizzas ranging from the classics to the more gourmet such as the mozzarella, porcini mushroom, truffle cream and shaved parmesan pizza or the chicken thighs, artichoke, green olives, mozzarella, cream, salsa verde and oregano one (yum!). The wine list at Non Solo Pizza is faultless too, making the experience at this Auckland pizza restaurant almost a flawless one; just ask any Parnell local. Be prepared to pay the price for the NSP decadence, though -

Al Forno
(Italian, Pizzeria, Seafood)
This one's dedicated to all those North Shore residents who are tired of having to cross the bridge for a half-decent, non chain store pizza. Al Forno Restaurant own its very own woodfire oven - heck, even their garlic pizza bread's given its due time in the good ol' woodfire burner! But the best part about Al Forno, though, is that there's something to satisfy everyone - if someone in the family's not a fan of pizzas, there's an array of pastas and salads to opt for instead. A win-win situation - great pizza for you and delicious pastas for the rest. What can be better?

Al Volo
(Italian)
Yes - the rumours are true. No visit to Mt Eden would be complete without paying homage to some of the best pizzas in the land (and by that, we mean the Al Volo pizza). Oh - and do try the Contadina while you're in this part of Auckland; it's a dish that features asparagus, cheese and a slightly gooey egg... worth every caloric mouthful. And besides, the asparagus negates the sinful attributes of the generous cheese serves, don't you think?

Archies Restaurant and Pizzeria
(Italian, Pizzeria)
Archies Restaurant and Pizzeria in Newmarket, Auckland appears to be a rather polarising pizza place. White some think that they've tasted better pizzas in their time (as View Auckland's André Taber pointed out in his review for this Auckland pizza restaurant), many keep coming back not only because the pizzas here are well above average and the place offers to its patrons an authentic taste of the Italia experience. We think that if you're at least in the area and craving for a slice or two, Archie's Restaurant and Pizzeria wouldn't let you down, at the very least.

Dante's Real Woodfired Pizza
(Family, Italian, Pizzeria)
Dante's Real Woodfired Pizza is a true hidden Auckland gem which doesn't come as much of a surprise, given it's far-flung location in Huapai, Kumeu. Don't underestimate this Auckland suburban pizzaz place, though; you'd be interested to know that Dante's Real Woodfired Pizza is the one and only pizzeria in New Zealand to receive membership in the prestigious culinary institute Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana (VPN), which in plain English mean the make a damn good rustic thin crust pizza the true Italian way. Get to it, Aucklanders.

Epolito's New York Style Pizzeria
(American, Pizzeria)
Talk about great pizzas in Auckland aren't legit without a mention of Chicklena Rose's Epolito's New York Style Pizzeria at Ellerslie, Auckland. Not exactly prime location for many of the people of Auckland, but totally worth the drive down south. Chick makes the dough and prepares all the ingredients for her pizza every morning; from the sauce used on the base to the home-made meatball and sausage (made to a secret family recipe!) that go on top. How does one even resist pizzas that are made from scratch the way Chick does them right here in Auckland?

Il Buco
(Italian)
A firm favourite here at View Auckland, Ponsonby Road's Il Buco serves its traditional Roman thin-crusted pizzas by the rectangular slice. Although we usually have great difficulty getting past their pizzas with them satisfyingly crisp bottoms and extravagantly topped with anything from venison salami and Gorgonzola to asparagus, this Auckland pizza place serves some seriously tummy-warming soups and a deliciously affordable affogato, too. In addition to that, Il Buco is unlike anything else you'll find around Ponsonby with its low-key and street-cred vibe, if its scrumptiously affordable food isn't reason enough to convince you to give this Auckland local a shot.

Pane e Vino
(Italian, Pizzeria)
With Co-owner and front-of-house extraodinaire Tito formerly of the institutional Gina's Kitchen on Symonds Street forefronts Pane e Vino's catapult to fame as serving some of the most most authentic Italian in Auckland. We love Pane e Vino because although he churns out some of the most unbelievably delicious rustic pizzas in Auckland, he competently creates some amazing home made pasta and old-school Italian desserts to go with too - variety is a rarity in pizza restaurants that actually makes good pizzas. Perfect for big groups with individuals undecided on what they'd want for dinner!

That's Amore
(Family, Italian)
The Auckland CBD isn't overly blessed with great pizza offerings, which is why we're glad to have That's Amore re-set the standard of great Italian pizzas here in the city. That's Amore is understandably a central Auckland pizza favourite. After all, being close to the lively Chancery area and residing a mere few strides from some full-on shopping on High Street makes That's Amore a perfect indulgent lunch break option!
