Papermoon is a very busy café/bar restaurant /bakery /gellateria, yes they do it all and the majority of the time they do it right. They must as they are usually so busy. We went there on a brilliantly sunny day which was also a public holiday, due to this we rang ahead and asked for a seat outside in the sun. We got half of that, we got a seat outside unfortunately on the wrong side of the café so it was in the shade. The initial service with taking orders and delivery drink was quick and we had no problems. Unfortunately we waited about 25-35 minutes for our food and the time we went it wasn’t greatly busy. It didn’t really matter though as there were four of us so it gave us time to catch up.
The food we ordered was Lamb’s fry, bacon and squeak which is simply lamb’s liver with bacon and cabbage mash. This plate of food was a delicious version of one of the most underrated breakfast around everything was well grilled and well-seasoned.
The eggs on toast were just that, nothing less or more than expected and hit the spot. The omelettes served at Papermoon are described on the menu as open plan omelette; inspiration occurs at 7.30am and changes daily. Today’s inspiration was chorizo and was finished off with pleasure. The only problem I had with the food was actually the dish I ordered for myself. Hot smoked snapper kedgeree with Manuka fennel relish, spinach, poached egg and Bengal spiced hollandaise. Now I am all up for using artistic licence but this simply was not Kedgeree.
So Papermoon did have the spices in the hollandaise which was clever and they certainly had the smoked fish. It just simply wasn’t Kedgeree it was just fishcakes with hollandaise and poached eggs. So moaning over I would like to say at this point, they were brilliant fishcakes! Presentation was great and the smoked flavour was beautiful so despite it not actually being Kedgeree it was delicious all the same.
Overall it was nice to see they joined the increasing group of no surc
Went there last year chicken was uncooked in places complained twice was given excuses Health department gave them instructions on how to cook chicken and they said they would refund meal still waiting would give them no stars if I could.
Met a client at Paper Moon in Mairangi Bay for lunch last week. Service is efficient and setting is good - good food at a reasonable price..worth a look!
Food is v good. Staff are great.

Yummiest eggs benedict ive tasted!!
Paper moon has always been a quality venue and the service really is second to none. Ive had a fair few dinners at paper moon as well as breakfast, the food is really tasty and i cant recall any issues with the service as the girls are generally on their toes.
One friday afternoon I went with a few friends after uni and enjoyed a few corona buckets. It wasnt the cheapest way to have a few drinks but with the sun out it was well worth it!
We ate Sunday brunch at Paper Moon and as we hadn't been for awhile we were hoping not to be disappointed, and we weren't!!
The service was friendly and very attentive even with the place being full. The food was really yummy, it was all so fresh, cooked to perfection and delicious. I fully recommend Paper Moon for anyone looking to eat good food in the Bays.
