Really disappointed with the food here. Ordered arancini and they were tasteless. The chicken cannelloni just tasted like breadcrumbs. I know they were busy but the food was just dreadful. Would never go back or recommend. The only good thing at Pane e Vino was the service.
Authentic Italian food!
If you enjoy an authentic, lively Italian dining experience then Pane e Vino is the place to go! The atmosphere is warm, welcoming and super friendly and the food is absolutely amazing. Every visit I have made to this restaurant has been memorable and I have left feeling extremely satisfied. The staff are super welcoming and inviting.
My absolute favourite entree would have to be the Gamberi e peperoni
Panfried prawns with capsicum, garlic ,parsley ,chili in extra virgin olive oil. For a main I tend to get the Ravioli Verdi which is wrapped spinach ravioli filled with lemon, ricotta cheese & spinach served with tomato sauce and basil. Pizza I would have to recommend Contadina red onions, hot salami, zucchine and black olives. They also have a great selection of specials that change every time that I have been. For dessert you can't go past their classic Tiramisu. It is simply heavenly.
Tucked away on Williamson Road which is off Ponsonby Road, Pane e Vino is not as well known as other Auckland Italian restaurant but it is one of Auckland's best kept secrets. Always lively and bustling, Pane e Vino, therefore it pays to book in advance but I assure you that you will not be disappointed.
I was so looking forward to eating here. But The ravioli were not fresh, tough ravioli and we had just a few. Not even close to my Italian grandma's ravioli. Entree was nice but overall sorry, very disappointed and not coming back. Owner's a bit rude and arrogant.
I haven't been to Pane e Vino yet but love the website with the background music and hope I will not be disappointed?
I booked here for my birthday dinner and had to do the set menu because of the size of the booking. I chose to do the $35 for a starter and main which was very overpriced for what we got. Starter consisted of 2 small slices of egg plant with a bit of tomato sauce and parmesean cheese. Main was a very small piece of overcooked snapper with a bit of olive oil, a few pieces of chopped tomatoes and some olives. That was it! No sides at all. We were all left very hungry and I ended up having to pay extra for the whole table to get dessert which was just as awful! I was so embarassed that I had made everyone pay to go. It was terrible - definitely do not go here.
We booked the Monday night special (Abbuffata Italiana) for 15 adults and 10 kids. The food was great - entrees, pizza, pasta dishes, salad and a desert - simple but very yummy and authentic. The staff were very friendly and we didn't have to wait a long time between courses which was much appreciated for the kids. Lovely atmosphere and a great venue - especially sitting outside on a warm summer evening.
Rude. Arogant. Useless. 2 previous experiences only just made the grade but tonight was the final straw. Ordered take out pizza. No please or thank you over the phone just "ready in 40 minutes " then click with the hang up. When I arrived to pick up my order someone with the same name had "already picked up your order" the olny choice was to wait for the order to be remade. No sorry thank you nothing. They do not deserve to be in business.
