Went here last night for my sisters 21st and it was such a great place ! The prices were pretty cheap, the food was delicious and the staff were super friendly and helpful. After finding out it was my sisters birthday (we didn't tell them prior to the night) the manager gave her a free drink and then decided to give the whole table a free drink, which was really nice because there were 11 of us at the table. After our meals, the manager then presented my sister with a cheesecake slice for her birthday cake, as well as another free drink which they mixed to make a teal color, after asking what her favorite color was; teal! We thought that was super nice of the staff to do that. Overall the place was great; the music was good, the staff were amazing, and the food was delicious. I would definitely recommend this place and will be going back again ! :)

This place has come along a long way since it was MET Bar, it looks classy and the ambiance is great. Came here with my friends for my friends birthday. We were allowed to keep the cake in the fridge, the waiters and waitresses were friendly, bar staff were also very helpful.

The shots were $8.50 - I found this place was cheap on drinks, so good value for money.

The only criticism i have for this place is that, while requesting the birthday cake to be sent out. The first things to arrive on the table were the plates and napkins... Which was a major give away to the birthday person. So perhaps the staff just need to think a little more on how to create an impact. Ideally it should have been the cake that came out first with lit candles and while everyone is singing happy birthday and talking, then the plates and napkins follow.

Other than that this is a great place to start off the night. :D

I had the steak sandwhich here and it was awesome! Great price and serving! Still can't believe how cheap it was. Just awesome.

I'd heard a lot about No.1, especially their half price Wednesdays. My friends and I went last night for dinner and I have to say it was great. The food was cheap (this always worries me) but fantastic. Staff were friendly and enthusiastic. They were busy but this just added to the electric atmosphere. Defiantly go there again!

Have been to No1 High Street a few times for lunch as it's close to my work in the city. Have vowed not to go back several times because of the appalling service but thought I'd give it another crack today...big mistake. Not only is the menu still the same after a year but the service is just crap. I walked into the restaurant which had two tables occupied so not exactly busy, the hostess down the other end of the bar didn't even acknowledge me when I walked in but continued doing something on the computer. Seated and the waitress was okay, more attentive than we've had in the past (which doesn't say much) but let herself down at the end when our main plates were cleared and we didn't see her again!! No offer of coffee or dessert, that was it. When we went to pay, the hostess yet again was perched down the end of the bar but this time on her mobile texting. So sorry we had to disturb her to pay the bill. In the past the service has failed in not being asked if we wanted another drink, isn't this what restaurants make most of their money on??? The food was nice, their only saving grace but let's face it, the service plays a huge part of the dining experience as well and this place just does not get it!!! If I was the owner I would be doing some serious reviewing of my staff and starting all over again with some decent training!! Too much complacency here.

Arrived at NO:1 High St. at 630pm on a Saturday night expecting the place to have a buzz about as there was a lot of rugby on that particular night but instead the mood was a bit somber. We were greeted by a man in a leather jacket which we thought was strange and a little bit unprofessional. We assume he was the maitre’d as he showed us to our seats. The 5 of us were quickly presented with the wine list and menus by a lovely Scottish girl. Our order was quickly taken and before long the entrees arrived. The entrees were outstanding. Generous portions and well presented with the favorites being the marinated squid and the grilled veggie and haloumi skewers. Our mains order was taken and arrived quickly. We received 4/5 of the meals and waited patiently for the 5th which arrived 5 minutes later. The chicken burger closely resembled a beef burger however our younger guest demolished it just the same. My chicken risotto was nice but the stuffed chicken breast was cut into pieces making it dry up very quickly. The chorizo pasta was outstanding yet simple, the steak, ordered medium, was cooked to perfection yet the lamb dish left a lot to be desired and showed the kitchen were not using fresh but frozen greens. The young girl attending to us looked after us well but we couldn’t help but notice she was doing a lot of the work while the bar staff played the part of making themselves look busy. The Bill was $295.00 for 5 people including two bottles of wine. A fair price we think for the service / food. Would I go back to No 1 High Street? Probably

If you really want to be wowed by a venue in Auckland then the newly refurbished No. 1 High Street is the place to be. Awesome setting with some really stylish touches, No.1 High Street would be my pick of bars to go to when you're trying to impress....sophistication is an understatement here.
