Nishiki, Roata-Yaki Bar Information

Robata-yaki means having dinner and drinks in a cozy, relaxed and social atmosphere, watching the kitchen. Because most of the dishes we specialize in are grilled and deep fried (food) etc and they are snack sized, you can order many different kinds of foods (from this menu), sharing foods makes much more economic sense.

The food at Nishiki in Botany wasn't too bad. But it wasn't great either. They definitely make some items better than others. Overall though, I did find the flavours a bit too sweet and sickly at times. Cost-wise, it isn't the cheapest. Though, this will depend on what items you order.

One thing to rave about though, is Nishiki's black sesame and green tea ice-creams. May be worth going there just for these two things.

Atmosphere wise, was alright. Comfortable enough but nothing to rave about. The service was so-so and a tad slow at times.

Going to Nishiki in a group can be challenging as seating can be an issue. We got given two tables that couldn't really be pulled together, so it was a little awkward to be split into two separate tables.

I'll go back to Nishiki... for the black sesame ice-cream!

We went to Nishiki Roata Yaki for my mother's birthday. My husband rang them to book, but when we got there they said they didn't get the booking. There were already lots of people so we had to wait although we made a booking! We went there on TUESDAY, and my husband said "I would like to make a booking for TUESDAY." But the staff who can't understand English (This is fatal! Here is NZ!!) thought my husband said "THURSDAY".So they put our booking on THURSDAY booking sheet. After 15~20min waiting, we finally got the seat but the space between the table and the seat was too close (you can't move both) , so it doesn't look comfortable for my huge father. They gave us free drinks for apology, but food was just OK ( Sashimi is too tiny for the price) and awful service don't make us to go there again. Get staffs who can understand English or just don't let staff who can't speak English to answer the phone!
