Mudbrick is one of Auckland's finest restaurants. The views are spectacular, overlooking Motuihe and the Auckland city skyline, particular at dusk/sunset. The buildings and garden are gorgeous and I LOVE that they grow their own vegetables and herbs there (we even saw the chef walk out the back to pluck some herbs! You can't get fresher than that!). The service is superb and the food is absolutely divine.

The pork belly entree was cooked to perfection, the snapper for main was tender and tasty and the chocolate dessert was heavenly. Although the menu is pricey, it is a gourmet vineyard on beautiful Waiheke Island, so it is to be expected.

This place is an absolute treat and definitely somewhere you could take someone for that special occasion to finish off a great day on one of Auckland's greatest assets (Waiheke Island that is!).

Thank-you Mudbrick for ruining our anniversary. Cancelled our booking 2 hours before we were supposed to leave on the ferry to get to Waiheke. They had a wedding that day and should never have taken our booking. We couldn't find anywhere else (any other fine dining restaurants) that would take our booking at such late notice. Day ruined. Any sort of compensation or a proper apology would have been appreciated. Was really upsetting after saving up for a long time to do something nice.

I was at Mudbrick at the weekend on beautiful Waiheke island for a wedding. The settings and surroundings are amazing except the occasional dead flowers and vegetables in the garden.

The post ceremony canapes where mostly divine, (I wasn't overly impressed by the arancini) with the prawn canape and the commonly found goats cheese with caramelised onion the standouts.
My entree was a pork belly which I had earlier decided I wouldn't eat for a while due to over exposure but due to a mix up this is what I had. I was grateful for the mix-up as it was clearly the best dish of the day for me. Others also raved about the cauliflower soup.
My main was the eye fillet which was a great cut of meat but over smoking on the cippolini onion and raw leek spoiled the dish. My impending speech also spoiled the dish! My nerves where shot.

With the speech over and nerves clearing it was time to enjoy the rum and plum brulee. It was a delicious brulee with strong plum flavours but not so much rum. However the brulee was accompanied by a crispy coconut truffle and a creamy plum mousse which set the dish off nicely.

Finally cant review a vineyard without the wines, the pinot gris and sav I drank throughout the night matched the quality of the food and I look forward to my next visit to Mudbrick soon.

One of my fav Auckland spots - if you're entertaining out of towners make sure you treat them to the ultimate Waiheke dining experience - Metric Vineyard is a very romantic spot as well - either way, well worth the trip out to Waiheke.

One of my favourite places to eat in Auckland. My husband and I were so impressed when we visited Mudbrick Vineyard for the first time, we decided to have our wedding there. We married there in Dec 09 and it was the best day ever. Our guests were blown away by everything - the setting, the service, the staff, the food and of course the fantastic selection of fine wines. Mudbrick Vineyard is simply superb!!!!

Think I would need to go again to give a five star, but the waiter was good, the view was exceptional - particularly as dusk fell and the city lit up, the food was delicious and the ambiance (the old-brick makes it) was perfect.

Mudbrick Vineyard & Restaurant has excellent, friendly service by staff who have a thorough knowledge of the wine list. All 'special requests' were agreed to by the chef and when there was a misunderstanding by the wait staff and a side order was not brought out, this was not charged for, by way of apology.
Very spacious dining area, not found in many CBD restaurants. To have only two people placed at a large dining table in Mission Bay (for example) would be unheard of!
Delicious food, view and venue.

I'd agree with you on placing Mudbrick Vineyard at the top of your best New Zealand Cuisine restaurants in Auckland. I've eaten here three times now and never been disappointed. The staff are polite and efficient, the food is delicious and perfectly presented. The Mudbrick wine should be on more wine lists and to top it all, the best view from any restaurant in Auckland. You must, must go to Mudbrick!
