After the lack of service was only surpassed by the food not showing up at Mecca Stonehouse in Mission Bay it was back to Moretons for Sunday brunch.
Why did we ever drive past?
The friendly manner of the staff make you feel most welcome. No request is a problem and knowledge of the menu with recommendations to 'match' are appreciated.
Simple fare done well, with a few quirky twists for the more adventurous makes this place a sure fire winner. The more relaxed ambience St Heliers offers over Mission Bay increases to urge to perhaps stay for a post meal drink. And with $7 Sunday Bloody Mary why wouldn't you.
The food was delivered promptly and when tested by sending back a steak (ordered rare delivered medium) to see if the kitchen was up it we weren't disappointed.

With a local charm yet accepting feel tothe less regular visitors Moretons offers it all really. Complimentary papers to read, colouring books and pencils for the kids, screens (muted) for those sick of talking to each other, and an impressive wine/beer selection to accompany their food.

Highly recommend.

Had a group dinner there last friday night. The service was, as usual, very slow - about 60 mins to take the order and, from when we arrived, about 100mins for the mains to arrived

The food is quite basic - things like Sirloin which - one hopes - cant go wrong.. but the kitchen got all (8) steaks the wrong "texture" and they were generally quite tough.

Sadly the deserts - again - are of a similar standard: boring and badly executed. We had possibly the worst Tiramisu ever - it tasted neither of coffee or alchohol.

Also, its worth noting that during the day, the service is actually WORSE - the staff seem to wish they were on the beach across the road!

Stopped in at Moreton's for a couple of drinks on the weekend, and the atmosphere and great service convinced us to stay for dinner. Definitely recommended.

My partner and i with some friends went down to moreton's to enjoy a early dinner about 2 mounth's ago. But we were very disappointed by it. I had the Roast Chicken Breast which still had the wing attached and to my horror it was still pink and undercooked around the bone and almost burnt on the outside. My partner had a scotch fillet which was overdone. i believe if a place like this is going to survive they need to find chefs that know how to cook with out almost killing someone.
