Metro Peugeot Restaurant Of The Year 2016

Metro Peugeot Restaurant Of The Year 2016

Fort Lane eatery Cassia has taken out the accolade of Metro Peugeot Restaurant of the Year 2016 while Ponsonby bistro Orphans Kitchen is runner up.

Cassia, Fort Lane

The sleek, contemporary design combined with detailed service complement a menu of quality fresh New Zealand produce prepared using sub-continental flavours. Cassia’s philosophy is based on the marriage of seasonal New Zealand ingredients with the flavours and cooking techniques of India creating refined Indian dishes that challenge traditional notions of Indian cuisine. Cassia also took out the Best Smart-Dining Restaurant while Sid and Chand Sahrawat, the inspirational team behind the success story were also named as finalists in the Restaurateur Of The Year category.

The coveted Restaurateur of the Year Award goes to enterprising Michael Meredith in what was a big night for the Mt Eden eatery with Merediths also claiming the Best Fine Dining accolade.

Other notable achievements this year include the rapid rise of Orphan’s Kitchen, with the Ponsonby destination adding Best City Fringe Restaurant and Best Chef (Tom Hishon) to it’s extensive list of accolades for the night.

The full list of finalists can be found here. The full list of winners and hat ratings are published in the May issue of Metro Magazine, on sale now.
