Grabbed a takeaway coffee from Mecca while watching my kids on the playground, (long black) was full to the brim and spilled everywhere while walking but at least it tasted fine.
An all-round terrible dining experience! Multiple surly staff members gave us begrudging service. It was freezing cold inside but they "couldn't find the remote for the heat pump" so the room full of diners just sat there shivering. The incredibly rude, 12 year old looking waiter took our order which consisted of 4 different lunch dishes and all were served within literally 3-4 minutes so clearly none were prepared fresh. My meal was cold and all 4 had that stale, been sitting around in the kitchen for ages kind of feeling/taste. Never going back and will be telling others to steer well clear. Such a magic spot its criminal that it isn't a better run outfit.
The worst dining experience ever. The food was cold and bland and the staff were disinterested. Wont be eating at the Mecca Stonehouse again
I went there for lunch for a friends birthday and the food was terrible, most people couldn't finish their food, avoid the caesar salad if possible. In fact avoid the place altogether, the food is that bad. The service wasn't that great either. When we paid the bill the waiting staff could easily be heard complaining about the table splitting the bill. It was a complete waste of time and money, I still find it difficult to believe that the place manages to fill the majority of its tables on a daily basis.
Really disappointing lunch at Mecca Stonehouse this week. The place is looking shabby and dirty, the food was still good but overall the experience was not one that would make me go back. Sort out your customer service Mecca and give the place a good clean! Get rid of all the homemade signs and take a bit more pride in your lovely surroundings.
went to Stonehouse,Missionbay for dinner with few friends-what a fantastic place at night time-normally we go on weekend.Excellant service-best steak in the city.Great location. Will come back soon.
as regular mecca stonehouse customer i am shocked to hear of such an unjustified and undignified attack launched on what i must personally call the best cafe my family and i have ever dined and had coffee at, both during special occasions and as a weekly weekend regular visitor. the quality of coffee is excellent, much better than i have had elsewhere, and the service is of comparable quality, i am particularly impressed with the overtly friendly nature of the staff.
I continuously make my way from the shore on sundays to have my good sized portion of scrambled eggs and bacon with a hot bowl size Cappuccino while people watching from one of the great locations in Auckland.
I also pop in for a Savoury muffin and coffee on the odd days that I am in the area for business reasons. The service is attentive and done with a smile. I highly recommend the Stonehouse.
KInd regards

Great view and location. Terrible service, ignored and not welcomed. Slowest coffee in Auckland EVER! Too many people operating the espresso machine so orders keep getting lost. Second time in a row this has happened.
Mecca Stonehouse is doing very well nowadays - fantastic service and tasty food - great location. Recently a group of our friends went there for an evening meal and had a fabulous time - definately well worth a visit!
I agreed with preveous writer. I went with group of my friends-food was fantastic and service was great.I had lamb cutlet, spicy steak and plum crumble pie-all of them were excellent-I will recommend everybody to go to stonehouse mecca.
I recently visited Mecca Stonehouse for dinner. The food tasted excellent, the snapper was so fresh and cooked perfectly. My partner had spicy steak and it was very original. Service was excellent, I happily tipped my waiter upon leaving. This was my first visit but definately not my last! I recommend this place to everybody!
I went to Mecca with my family on Fathers Day. I had a lovely breakfast (eggs benedict) which has made me go back there 4 times sice then. Even though it was so busy still we were happy with there fantastic, fast service.
Great location, shame about the food. It was just 2 of us, ordered 1 full breakfast and 1 scrambled eggs with bacon. Whilst the food was presented well everything tasted bland and purely re-heated, not even the eggs appeared to be freshly cooked. Now when your playing $20 that is the least you could expect. Not to mention that the cutlery had to be returned for not been clean. Never again I'm afraid.
I agree with the last person, we used to go to Mecca Stonehouse Cafe a bit as lived in the area...service has got worse over the years. Last time we were there for breakfast, our meal arrived, we asked how long our coffees were going to be (as they hadn't arrived and were ordered at the same time as our meals) and were told they wouldn't be much longer. We finished our meals (which by the way were below average...bland and quite fatty) and the coffees finally arrived! And to top if off, they were crap as well, so we left, vowing never to go back.....
Fantastic location; awful food and service!
I don't understand the other reviewers experience of Mecca Stonehouse Cafe at all, though I grew up in a hospitality family and expect far more than this sad excuse for a cafe.
The food here tastes like it been emptied from a packet, then heated in a microwave and guess what - tastes like that too!
If you care to enjoy the sun outside don't expect ANY service til you beg for it, then don't expect a second visit, even if you are glaring at the waiters.
Their chai is sickly sweet disgusting and they serve shriveled, too sweet marshmellows with your average hot choc.
My only venture into something sweet left me parched with baking powder overload. See, I keep trying to like it but they lose hands down!
I'm surprised that anyone eats or drinks here.
Terrible.
We went to Mecca Stonehouse for a mother's day brunch. The cafe was packed, but as always we had impeccable service and great food. I recommend the ricotta berry hot cakes, a Stonehouse specialty in my mind.
What a wicked place! My partner and I went to Mecca Stonehouse Cafe on Sunday for a Mum's day brunch and couldn't have been happier! The place was doing a roaring trade, (in our short time there we think there must have been at least 100 served!), and even though we had the baby buggy the staff were very accommodating and arranged a good posie for us (hard to imagine at other popular restaurants on such a day). I had the Cajun chicken and my partner the Blueberry Pancakes - both were good portioned and delicious. Mecca has such a great setting and it's great to have the good staff and delicious food to compliment this. Well done Mecca!
Historical Mecca Stonehouse in Mission Bay - Fine Dining! The food isn't as good as what they priced their dinner, but the lunch was pretty awesome. They've got room inside with a fireplace - a
very romantic and calm environment.
The patio is perfect when it's a good day. You can also have coffee or a light meal.
