Please think twice about having any functions at McHughs Of Cheltenham. The venue and location is perfect, but the staff and customer service is appalling. We recently attended a wedding there and as guests for the wedding we felt we were treated with no respect and the staff there (especially the manager with blond hair) were very very rude! It is a shame that a venue so beautiful and serene can be ruined by poor customer service. If you are thinking about having a wedding there please think again, because if you would like your guests to enjoy their experience I wouldn't have it at this place. Beautiful venue, spectacular location but poor poor poor customer service and everyone knows that the customer service at a restaurant is one of the most important factors to a great experience.

I will put only one star and I think it is too much for it, because McHughs of Cheltenham has the worst customer service I've ever seen, when I called to book a table for more than 10 people for Easter Lunch 2011, the man on the phone answered me in a tough way and rude and at last he hung the phone without saying goodbye !! The was because I asked him what time you close the hot food buffet ( as last time we went at 1:30 they closed the doors at 2:30 !!! ) so I wanted to know the exact time for Easter Lunch , he replied for that question: If you were not happy with us last time , you don't have to come again and he hung up !!!!! what can we say about that bad attitude !!And by the way I'm putting one star only for the location and the beautiful views of this place.

I couldn't have agreed with the above comment more. Had my birthday at McHughs and the service from the managers (both the man and woman) was shockingly appalling! It seems she only welcomes functions with more than 50 people or local returning customers and the restaurant is "too popular to care about the rest"When I called to book I was told we had to leave by 3:30, when i called again ON THE DAY to confirm seating I was ORDERED we had to leave at 2:30 and the manager was rude and demanding leaving me no choice but for my group of friends to eat the hot food in a hurry in 30 minutes! Not only did we recieve no apology, we heard the manager mumbling to the kitchen staff behind our backs. Such a pity because the venue and views is so superb. $28 is too high a price since the food was average anyway. Would certainly NOT be going back to McHughs again. - Report

The food was pricey, but had nice taste to it. The service was pretty good alround, but the overwhelming factor of this restaurant for me was the view. I cannot think of anywhere I have eaten that has more stunning views. I can imagine even on a stormy night it would be nice to look out at the water. The night we went the weather was absolutely stunning and the clear skies and light flickering off the water made for a magical night out. We felt on top of the world. I rate it as one of the top meals ive had at a restaurant. What a location!!
