Had heard about Marvel Grill from friends, who had had great service, exellent food, so we decided to try for ourselves. Yes we agree, upon arrival we were promptly greeted by friendly, helpful staff & when we asked for a wine recommendation, they were very knowledgeable & we enjoyed the wine!!. The food was great, fresh, good presentation & decent sized servings, yum! We loved the white table cloths & that fact that you can sit 'outside' & should the weather not be that great (good old Auckland!) then they can roll down the 'plastic sides' & still enjoy the great environment. Loved the decor, very cool. Thanks Marvel, we'll be back.

Went to Marvel Grill for lunch this past weekend and found it absolutely fabulous. Our oysters were ocean fresh and the generous proportions left us unable to finish our meals. The food was fantastic, a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. Loving the North Wharf/Wynyard Quarter atmosphere!

I went to Marvel @ North Wharf within a few of weeks of them opening their doors and had experienced the worst service and food ever! vowing to never return! Last week, I had my hand twisted by some friends after work who had heard differently to what I had experienced.

We arrived and Marvel Grill was humming but we were told if we wish to dine in the "formal" area that there would be about a 20min wait (even though we could see available clean and dirty tables) or we could take seat in the "casual" side - the bar area. We chose the bar side (reconsidering the waits I received from my first experience).

I am happy to report, my friends were right!! Our food was great! My T.Bone Steak Cooked to perfection, The others loving their mains. Cheesy Mash, Wasabi Coleslaw and crumbed Mushrooms sides were cleared to the last bite. Our waiter was seamless - his food suggestions were impeccable, always topping up our drinks (water included) and just seemed to have perfect timing.

All I have to say is that if you were like me and had the worst experience at Marvel Grill in their earlier days, give them another chance now, they seem to be sorting their stuff out. I will be back for sure!

Fantastic service, our waiter was a young French man and was very polite and helpful, went above and beyond the call of duty. Food came out promptly, dishes were explained well and drinks were kept topped up. The one thing holding Marvel Grill back from a five star review is that the steak was a little over done, contrary to instructions. Will definitely be back.

We called in to Marvel Grill for a drink about 6.30pm, all tables booked but were shown to a bar table and told we could order food which we did. We were impressed with the waiting staff, one a young French boy who was very chatty, friendly and efficient. Another male staff served our wine and was equally as friendly. After bread and dips we decided to have a steak meal and we were agreeably surprised with the prompt service, the quality of the steaks and the side dishes. Altogether a very agreeable meal and will be happy to return to Marvel Grill.

Outstanding food, excellent service - brilliant night out! Will definitely be back to Marvel Grill for more!! Menu far outshone the jervois steak house without the pompousness.. Was very difficult to select from the many fantastic options..

Popped into Marvel Grill on a Sunday afternoon, for just dessert and coffee, however was told they ran out of food???? so shut the kitchen. seems very odd at 3.30pm on a sunny sunday afternoon. disappointed as I had such a good meal at Marvel Grill on a previous night, so was annoyed to be turned away with my guest who I dragged their to show them what is a great venue normally.... :-(

Not sure if my earlier post made it....THIS IS A NEGATIVE POST ABOUT POOR SERVICE!Well walking past Marvel Grill at 11.55am this morning and spotted a free table for two...walked towards it only to be confronted by management saying"WE DON'T OPEN UNTIL 12PM" (note this was only 5 minutes away)My response"Do you mind if we sit at the table until you do open""NO YOU CAN'T"I wonder when this restaurant will wake up to the reality that it is not just about food or location you actually have to offer some service.As a result I've told 20 people of this incident and no doubt they will tell 20 people and I'll NEVER EAT AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT UNTIL OWNERSHIP AND SERVICE LEVELS CHANGE...which judging by the way they have started will not take too much time.
