I purchased the "Ocean Platter" for $19.90 and was very disappointed at how little food $19.90 bought at Market Seafood Brassiere. Definitely will not go there again.

I've taken the time to search out this review site and lodged this negative review only after my email to these people telling them how I felt went unanswered.

After spending $20.00 for a platter of seafood you should not have to leave hungry.

For those wanting to be forewarned - the Ocean platter consisted of a skewer with 3 small/medium size pieces of salmon, one "tiny" breaded scallop, one "very tiny" oyster with a few bacon bits spread across it, a very small piece of fish, a prawn and a small amount of squid. There was also a reasonable amount of chips and a small salad. The description of the Ocean Platter said that there would be a selection of sauces and garnishes. The selection of sauces was one small bit of tomato sauce and a small bit of tarter sauce. All-in-all, in my opinion, the description was a huge oversell.

I will definitely give Market Seafood a miss in the future.

Took advantage of the fantastic sunny day on Saturday with a trip to Wynyard Quarter to see what all the hype was about. Been keeping an eye on the reviews for the restaurants in the area and although we were planning on paying the conservatory a visit, taking one look at the crowd, there was no hope.
Market Seafood Brasserie was no where near as busy so opted for some fresh fish and chips. Snapper was brilliant and the chips ok (without being outstanding). Be prepared to pay for it though - Market Seafood isn't cheap...still well worth the effort though.

We went to Market Seafood Brasserie last night and were very disappointed with the food. There were 4 of us and we had the ocean fish tasting platter for 4. It looked enormous but was really just bulked up with fries and salad. All we got was one tiny piece of fish, a prawn, an oyster, a small salmon kebab (there was actually only 3 of these on the plate), a scallop and a handful of squid strips each. The prawns and scallops were over cooked, the salmon was dry and squid was tasteless. The chips and salad were the best thing on the plate! The price was $89.99 which we thought was overpriced for what we ended up with. We were still hungry after this so 2 of us ordered the seafood chowder which was ok but barely warm. One of us ordered the risotto which, again, was ok but fairly bland, and one of us had the squid. This was the same tasteless squid that was on the platter with a wasabi dressed salad that barely tasted of wasabi. The only good thing about the meal was the speed of service. We received our food with barely a wait. We will not be returning to Market Seafood Brasserie.

service not fantastic but food pretty special. Had the ocean tasting platter and was quite suprised by the generosity of the helpings - i suppose it helps that the market seafood brasserie has perhaps the best access to fresh seafood in auckland.
Market seafood is well recommended.

Had the chowder at Market Seafood Brasserie during the week - lovely and rich and good portioned chunks of kaimoana!
You can't beat market seafood brasserie for freshness - looking forward to many return visits.
