We've eaten at Manuka Restaurant a couple of times over the last few years and although the service has been great, the food has been average. But when we popped in for Brunch this weekend, the food was really good. I had the cooked breakfast whilst my wife had the veggie eggs benedict - both were tasty and well presented. I would definitely recommend Manuka!
Really loved the atmosphere and enjoyed the great menu, prices and staff. i would go back again anytime!
My partner and I grabbed a bite for lunch at Manuka the other day. Baked in glorious sunshine, Devonport was surprisingly really busy (for a mid week), but there were a few tables spare at Manuka. I live locally, but hadn't dined here before so was keen to try it.
Opted for the beef burger and fries and my partner went for the grilled chicken ciabatta sandwich - both were ok without setting the world on fire. Chips were a bit too greasy but no real issues.
On the flip side, the service at Manuka could not be faulted in one iota - well done!
The cafe owner is the rudest and most obnoxious person I have ever met in a cafe.
We entered the cafe and sat down. There was four other people in the cafe with most sitting outside.
There were 3 of us. We moved to a four seater table as there was a cold draft coming through the front door.
He asked us to move back as he wanted to use those seats for important people! (his exact words). We were three professionals, well dressed and working. He tried to apologise but did a bad job of it and continued to offend; and to top it off the coffee was absolutely horrible. It must have been a 1/4 shot!
Appalled! I will never return.
Absolutely not impressed by quality of service and food. Ordered eggs benedict with salmon. There were 2-3 streaks of sauce on top of pouched eggs and salmon wasnt sliced. Even more appalled by the staff with butterfly tattoo on her arm. My friend and I stood in front of cashier, waiting to pay. Instead of looking straight up and serve us, she looked diagonally to a white guy standing next to us with his bills. And she didnt even utter a word of apology
Had Spaghetti Bolognese for lunch: it wasn't bad but very small portion and just spaghetti and a bit of meatsauce, nothing else. It took a long time to get. The coffee was bitter. The chocolate / hazelnut mousse was very good.
Wonderful atmosphere and great menu at Manuka Restaurant. Highly recommend. Friendly staff, and good location. I should know, I live and dine in Devonport on regular occasions.
We went to Manuka Restaurant with a group of 16 on Saturday night. The restaurant was extremely compromising with fitting everyone in and filling all the food and drinks orders in good time. Unfortunately, the food was very average - Terakihi fish drowned in a holly sauce; pizza was mostly cheese with not a lot of anything else; and prawns were over barbequed. Manuka is very child friendly: they give children colouring in books and other toys to play with. They also have a baby changing table in the ladies - the toilet area could also ave done with a good clean out. I wouldn't recommend Manuka for anyone other than families, but then the prices are probably too high for most families.
