Set within the incredible grounds of Mansion House on Kawau Island, this little cafe is the perfect accompaniment to the historical homestead and the parkland. With it's idyllic setting, charming array of historic artifacts and friendly weka and peacock wandering around, the atmosphere was unique and very pleasant. The staff were friendly and welcoming and very efficient and timely.
The food options are not very extensive but there was enough on offer to provide for the needs of the holiday-makers. On the first visit, an ice cream seemed the perfect way to finish off a walk through the woods and a visit to the historic Mansion House. The next morning, a coffee was needed and the cafe came up trumps with a good brew and a delicious (huge!) scone with cream and jam on the side (no sugar in the cream - bonus).
Often in parkland and historical houses, a cafe relies on its atmosphere and location for business but this little eatery steps up to the mark and provides a very pleasant addition to the island location.
