Mamak in Chancery was constantly bustling with people waiting for tables on Friday evening. We had to wait about 5-10 mins for ours but persisted as I'd heard good things about this place. Service was warm and friendly, but a little slow due to the crowd. They do attend to you, but you just have to expect to wait about 5 mins before they get back to you after you've requested for something.

Might've been an off day, but the food was just okay to me with slightly higher than average price -- a reflection of its location I would think. My char koay teow (fried flat rice noodles) wasn't particularly fragrant and at the time tasted a bit salty. The roti canai was alright but didn't blow me away.

What I liked most? Their teh tarik (milk tea) that was made fresh and not using pre-packed instant stuff. Also they do customise how sweet you want your drink to be.

Why you'd go there: Cause they make things fresh. They're located in the middle of town, so convenient for those around. They also serve halal food, so friendly for Muslims. Price of food is affordable for its location. Great place for a meal in summer time.

Overall verdict?
Generally good experience, but a little disappointed with the food. A little unsure, so will have to visit it again and give it a second go.

Had a lovely meal at Mamak Malaysian Restaurant this evening - great to finally find a malaysian eatery that does a good mee goreng! Looking forward to a few more meals at mamak sometime soon.
