With a great location, the new café in town, Little Wai is the takeaway/café accompaniment to Wai Kitchen upstairs. Clean and modern with a great outdoor area, complete with bean bags which are actually comfortable, this is a café/bakery that makes you want to lounge around with a paper or good company on a sunny Waiheke day.

The service was great, with chatty, friendly staff who took the time to make you feel like they wanted you there and the coffee was perfect. Happy enough to extend our stay, we popped back in for Kohu Road gourmet ice cream with its delightful Summery flavours.

We didn’t indulge in the fresh bakery foods on offer but next time I find myself in Oneroa, I’ll be sure to return to the Little Wai to fully appreciate the food experience – particularly the gourmet pies with flavours that sounded like they were more five-star restaurant than bakery pie filling! Wai is a great addition to Oneroa’s café scene and is sure to be a hit over Summer.
