As you walk into this narrow cafe, the sight of the scrumptious home-baking spread across the counter-top puts all thoughts of diet out the window! How could you resist the array of freshly baked muffins, scones, friands, slices and cakes! And that's just for dessert! Rading the descriptions for their huge selection of gourmet burgers gets the mouth-watering. Why not try the Galilean chicken burger - free range chicken breast in za’atar schnitzel style with lettuce, tomato, red onion and our aioli and matbocha sauce - and the best thing is the price - just $12.50! I hadn't even heard of some of these ingredients but took the chance and was well-rewarded for my experimental menu selection.
With its Israeli influence and their pride in serving healthy, homemade foods with no chemicals, no flavour enhancers, no preservatives and no caged animals, how could you go wrong? Oh, and did I mention the coffee is Allpress - yummo! In my eyes, Kitchenette cannot go wrong - everything tastes fresh and homemade and flavoursome, there's a great selction of gourmet burgers (their specialty) and home-baked goodies, the coffee's great, the prices are good, there's easy free parking (always a bonus in Auckland!) and the service is friendly and welcoming (they've always got time for a chat). Five stars for this delightful local cafe!
