Seafood is really showcased, ex quality great prices. Highly recommend Kermadec for any occasion
Shared a massive seafood platter for two...and we just died & went to seafood heaven....such a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy our seafood....yummy
Bought a deal recently for Kermadec and thought it would be a great excuse to try somewhere that I've always wanted to go. Huge seafood lover so in theory one of the best places in Auckland to head to.
Great setting - even on an overcast day the views are magic and you can see why the Viaduct is still so popular after all these years.
The surf and turf which I enjoyed was exceptional - good size and good cut of meat (for the steak).
Only complaint (and its a minor one) about Kermadec was the wait between courses - bit of an age between my main and dessert but again, that's only minor.
Overall a good experience.
Hadn't really considered Kermadec restaurant for a weekend lunch before but after hearing a client rave about their experience thought I'd give it a go over the weekend.
Fine day (thankfully) which ensured the viaduct area was busy as people get out of their winter mode.
My hubby joined me for a late-ish lunch and we sat down near the windows to take in the exceptional view. Service was very welcoming and not offhand at all - sometimes you get that in similar high end restaurants.
He had the fish and chips which were tremendous and plentiful whilst my choice of the green-lipped mussels were also pretty good.
Kermadec is an experience worth doing and I'm glad I took my clients advice - good food and obviously an unrivaled setting!
What a disappointment! We arrived at Kermadec and were seated and then forgotten for about half an hour. We had to flag down a waiter, ordered drinks, only half came, and one of those was wrong, all the staff were standing round chatting, called one over again to follow up our drinks, again the wrong drinks come out, then find out what we ordered is out of stock. An hour later we all have our drinks, food order is taken, again half the table is served and the other half have to wait, mains the same, served to the wrong people and the expensive sides, only half turn up but we were charged for all of them. Service was appalling, food ok, and this was not a very busy Saturday night. The manager did give a discount on the bill for the muck up and we did get free bread as well.
Had a dinner meal upstairs in the brasserie not the fine dining experience recently and found the service very quick, the food was lovely, I had squid and it was cooked very well i thought and overall pricing very reasonable for the size of meal that you got, i would recommend this for a pleasant dining experience.
We were really disappointed with most aspects of our dining. The barman didn't have a good knowledge of their wine list so based his recommendation on price. The seats we were offered weren't as we'd reserved. The table service left alot to be desired and after waiting long enough to almost finish the bottle of wine, we were told that what we had gone for - Cray; was off the menu. We'd been told upon making the reservation that all menu items were available. The very pretty view and decor in the Brasserie couldn't soften the grimace when presented with the bill at the end - the food and service didn't impress at all. We wouldn't go again unless it was free!
We've enjoyed Kermadec before (rate it 4 star) so had no hesitation in joining friends for christmas day lunch. Never again. Didn't they know it was Christmas?? Nothing at all to indicate, not even a cheap cracker or even a red flower or anything. Party of 7, some of our meals were fabulous, tho quite small. Most of the food was pretty good but overall experience - Not. Service shocking, disorganised, had to ask for so many things. We think they brought in young casuals for the day. Very expensive for what we got, wouldnt go back now for any reason. Paying the bill was a joke - crowds of people waiting and the guy on the till didn't know what to do or how to do it. Disappointing. Could - and should - have been fantastic, it was an expensive way to avoid being on our own (3 of us) at home. Such a shame.
