I took my boss and a couple of key clients to Iguacu for lunch this afternoon. After reading all the good reviews and star rating I didnt hesitate to book a table. We arrived at 12:00pm, we were the only customers in the restaurant at the time. We put our order through at 12:15. More people arrived and took up three tables in the outside area. Two of these tables were served before us. We did not get our meals until 1:10! My clients both ordered the salmon, my Manager ordered the beef cheek and I ordered the lamb. My lamb was full of fat and it has repeated on me the whole afternoon and right now when I am typing this review. The kumara cake/hash my lamb was sitting on was cooked to a crisp, it was so hard I struggled to cut through it with the knife and basically it was dry, and tasted burnt. No one around the table raved about their meal and I left half of mine on the plate.Needless to say I was bitterly disappointed and my high expectations smashed!

Hi Losa, I am sorry to read that you had a disappointing meal at Iguacu. Our aim has always been to exceed customer expectations so I undertook a full investigation. We noted your request in our booking system that you were taking key clients out and both management staff and our Head Chef were made aware of this and remember your table very clearly. Whilst you arrived at 12, the remainder of your guests did not arrive until sometime later. After everyone arrived our Duty Manager went to approach your table on two occasions however the conversation was very intense and was unable to interrupt so left you to get acquainted for a little longer before she found an appropriate break. According to our electronic kitchen docket your table order was submitted to the kitchen at 12.25pm and ready at 12.55pm (30 minutes is pretty normal for a restaurant of our standard). We count our meal delivery times from when the order is placed, not when the customer is seated. You are correct that two tables did arrive after you but their order was placed before the remainder of your guests arrived which is why their food arrived before yours. The lamb dish you ate has just won the 2012 NZ Excellence in Beef & Lamb Award with the judge claiming it was “a stunning meal”. When you ordered the lamb our Duty Manager explained to you that it was lamb loin which is rolled and served with the fat on it to enhance flavour. She also explained that the dish takes 25 mins to cook. This dish has been so popular we have had difficulty keeping up with demand. The meat is Hawkes Bay grass fed lamb (best quality on the market). The day you dined with us we served over 20 orders of the lamb and received very positive feedback. You might not be aware but one of your guests did in fact state to our Duty Manager when she was clearing his plate that his meal was “delicious” and the gentleman who paid the bill left a very generous tip. I do hope that you will give Iguacu another chance. - Report

You have to hand it to Iguacu after all these years they still seem to be the most consistently reliable dining choice in town. I've been coming to Iguacu Restaurant for years and I've never had a bad meal. Must admit it's been about six months since my last visit but I'm most impressed with the new menu. The duck ravioli was sensational!

Had dinner at Iguacu Restaurant last night for a birthday- beautiful food! had the rack of lamb with kumara rosti and beetroot relish- was cooked perfectly and beautiful flavours. The calamari entree was also lightly floured and delicious and crispy. Mt Edwards pinot noir went very well with our meal.

loving the new menu at Iguacu - venison ragout is a real standout and gets my recommendation. Visit Iguacu Restaurant regularly, certainly my favourite Parnell restaurant.

After driving up and down Parnell Road every day for a week while housesitting a friends place, my hubby and I finally got the chance to head out and after reading some really positive reviews, thought we'd give Iguacu a go.
Hadn't been to Iguacu Restaurant before and was rather surprised at just how big the venue is - some nice, intimate areas plus bigger spaces for larger numbers.
Thankfully on this visit (a Thursday) it wasn't too busy so we got a nice spot in the corner.
Staff were great and quick to suggest recommendations (of both food and wine matching) and the food was tremendous. The eye fillet was particularly tasty and so tender.
Overall Igucau Restaurant is well worth the trip into Parnell - thanks guys for making our night.

Used to be an awesome place to go....but lately has gone downhill. Last time i went I got a bland dish that I didnt even order and the food of my companions were equally as unadventerous.

Such a shame, wont be going to again.

One of my favourite restaurants in Auckland. The service was impeccable and we could not fault the friendly and helpful staff. The food was 10 out of 10 for all four of our group and it is a lovely environment to dine. Reccomended!
